It’s often said that more than half of new businesses fail during the first year. According to the Small Business Association (SBA), this isn’t necessarily true. The SBA states that only 30% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 50% during the first five years and 66% during the first 10.

Restorers partners with local businesses and organizations, to create a vibrant entrepreneurial network in Grand Rapids that leverages the resources available in our city’s emergent industrial landscape and promotes a continuous cycle of launching, cultivating and sustaining new businesses.

Springing forth the ideas of budding entrepreneurs in Grand Rapids.

SpringGR helps entrepreneurs start a healthy, small businesses with low start-up costs, and that have the earning potential to help them achieve their goals. A concentrated 11-week entrepreneurial training course, entrepreneurs learn how to write a business plan, and create a chart of accounts and a budget. They also receive coaching from other start-ups and business coaches, and take “field trips” to places such as Start Garden.

Strengthen Your Business

An important part of holistic community development is the growth of small and medium-sized local businesses. These businesses create value for the community through the goods and services they provide and by adding jobs through their growth. To enroll in Strengthen Your Business you must be:

  1. A graduate of Spring GR;
  2. Located in or impacting the Restorers target area in SE Grand Rapids;
  3. In existence for at least two years;
  4. Seeking capital to grow.

In this 12-week course, students meet with volunteer business coaches, take a Facebook marketing class, and learn more advanced business techniques. There is no fee to attend.
